Powerland Computers, HP Experience Store Launch, Aug 25 2011
The HP TouchPad Frenzy:
Leif got up earlier than usual; at 7am.
There he discovered a whole world full of activity. Who knew?
Powerland Computers got a hold of many many recently discontinued HP TouchPads,
much more than any other HP outlet in Canada.
Then people spread the word that there will be limited amounts of them for sale in Winnipeg.
They were all sold. There are no more. Don’t bother phoning Powerland and asking if they will have some more tomorrow.
from Gizmodo:
“HP Killing webOS Devices
HP just announced that it’s killing off its line of webOS devices. Updated
A terse line in a press release from the company today reads
“HP reported that it plans to announce that it will discontinue operations for webOS devices, specifically the TouchPad and webOS phones.”
The recently discontinued HP Touchpad was on for $149 down from $599.
They were all (about 150) sold in about 45 minutes.
The people who were first in line had waited from 10pm last night until the store opened at 8am this morning.
Winnipeg loves a bargain!
Here is the press release we sent to entice the media:
“Powerland Computer Ltd, one of Manitoba’s largest Computer Sales and Service Centers got the attention of tech savvy consumers this morning.
At 8am when the door opened for business over 200 shoppers were in line to enter the “HP Experience Centre” inside the
newly renovated Powerland showroom at 170 Marion Street.
Vivian Ho, first in line, said she had been waiting since 10pm the night before to buy an HP TouchPad at a heavily discounted price.
The “HP Experience Centre” is one of only a few in Canada, offering a more personal way to experience the latest HP Technology.
The grand opening continues through Saturday, with door crasher pricing, hockey ticket giveaways and a celebrity appearance by Andrew Ladd on Friday from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.”
