Sarah Jo Kirsch and Aiyun Huang are uncompromising yet flexible performers who can interpret diverse repertoire – so their concert with musicians Dan Scholz, Micah Heilbrunn and Paul Williamson will be a special experience for our audience. Both Aiyun and Sarah have previously performed for GroundSwell with great success, and Curator Michael Matthews is keen on the idea of bringing them together. In this concert we feature music by Canadians Peter Hatch and James Harley, Americans David Cope and Jesse Jones, and a world premiere by Michael Matthews, a setting of remarkable poetry by Serbian-American poet Charles Simic. Aiyun Huang’s own exciting arrangement of Ligeti’s Mysteries of the Macabre provides an excellent balance. Curated by Michael Matthews“. from http://gswell.ca/portfolio/gs2-voice-percussion/
