Autumn Riverwalk, the Forks, Honey Show, Manitoba Legislature, Oct 2 2011

Leif Norman

The trees are changing colours to lovely autumn shades in Winnipeg.

The Assiniboine River Walk was under five to ten feet of water all summer, and in early September 2011 the river finally went down far enough so we could actually walk on it.

Also in this post: The Forks and all the Geese hanging around there for free food.

Some nice views of the Manitoba Legislature.

Apparently this tree was 300 years old, and then it died.

Fishing on the Assiniboine River. What do they catch? Do they eat it?

Manitoba Beekeepers Honey Show 2011

Red River Apiarists’ Association

From the RRAA website:

“We are a Beekeeping Club, founded in March 1963, primarily for the Hobby and Beginning Beekeepers, located in and around the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. We’re located at the junction of the Red River and the Assiniboine River. This area forms part of the Red River valley (which extends Southward into the U.S.A.), and thus our club name, Red River Apiarists’ Association.

Although we offer lots of social activities with regular meetings, our aim is to provide an educational setting for our members. We enjoy talking about Honey Bees, Nectar sources, Pollination of Plants, and Honey Promotions. And yet, our strength is bringing together beginner, experienced and not-yet beekeepers, so they can share stories and insights. Encouraging Beekeeping in Manitoba continues to be a main focus of the club.

When do RRAA meet?

Regular meetings are held at 7:30p.m. on the second Tuesday of most months.

Meetings are typically in the months of January, February, March, April, May, September, October, and November.

RRAA bee club members and guests gather in the Main Floor Meeting Room, immediately to the right after entering the main entrance doors of the main floor of the River Heights Community Centre, 1370 Grosvenor Avenue, Winnipeg. (Community Centre is at the Corner of Oak St. and Grosvenor Ave.). We are not far from the Polo Park Shopping Centre, Winnipeg.”
