Introducing the cast of VERGE 2012.

VERGE is WCD’s emerging artist company and they have been hard at work in full swing rehearsals since the end of January. These talented emerging professionals are working daily with WCD Artistic Director Brent Lott and after a five week process WCD will present new works featuring them March 2 thru 4, 2012. Be there as these seven up-and-coming dancers take to the stage.

Becky Sawdon, James Thomson Kacki, Rachelle Bourget, Claire Hardy, Mark Medrano, Sarah Helmer and Kayla Henry.

The emerging artist company is a WCD initiative designed to give recent graduates and senior students from the Professional Program

of the School of Contemporary Dancers (SCD) a jump start to their careers as professional dancers.

My idea was to use a dark neutral density filter, and a tripod, and capture a full hour of dance movement in one photographic image.

It didn’t work.

Everything looked very ghosty and cloudy even at 7 minutes.

See below.

I found that one second to 5 seconds was a good time to work with.

It created nice streaks and wiggly limbs.
