Manitoba is home to a rich and vibrant music community, and is historically known for producing notable, if not legendary figures in the popular music landscape. At the moment, housed within the province are dozens of great acts close to breaking out and finding mainstream success. Manitobans are known for being avid festival goers. There are several major festivals that occur in Manitoba every year, drawing thousands of people from around the country. Winnipeg Folk Fest draws 80,000 people over its five day run each year; and Dauphin Country Fest boasts an attendance of 14,000 daily. Currently there is an opportunity to fill the one thing missing from the music event landscape, a mid-sized rock n’ roll festival with breakthrough local artists and fan favourites.
We aim to make Toba Rock Fest a unique and memorable music event that combines elements of a traditional major-production rock festival, with the intimacy of an independent event. We are planning group games and ice-breakers during the show that will create additional sources of entertainment for those who choose to participate. The hope is that they feel as though they are part of the festival, and not just simply attending.”
