A long stretch of country roads bend past diners, motels, homesteads and driveways of characters who each have a story deserving of a song.
Inspired by the music of singer-songwriter Scott Nolan, OTT presents its newest theatrical experiment. I Dream of Diesel integrates video, photography, live theatre, puppetry and shadow play as it follows the life of Sylvia, a waitress whose new marriage lands her on a beaten down family farm.

The Rachel Browne Theatre – 211 Bannatyne Avenue
A long stretch of country roads bend past diners, motels, homesteads and driveways of characters that each have a story deserving of a song.
Inspired by the music of Winnipeg-based troubadour Scott Nolan, One Trunk Theatre’s newest play, I Dream of Diesel integrates video, poetry and shadow play in a delicious theatrical layer cake.
I Dream of Diesel is a visually arresting play perched at the intersection of dreams and reality, following the life of Sylvia, a diner waitress. In her first year of marriage, Sylvia is stuck on her in-law’s run-down farm while her husband Joe continues trucking across the country. Her long-distance relationship with adventure-seeking Joe always reads better in letters than it is face to face. Or, as Scott Nolan says “sometimes hearts beat louder farther apart”.
A Prairie Love story of a girl and the land.
