Grand Opening for the Richardson College for the Environment and Science Complex.

There used to be an old Roller Rink and used car lot here and now there is a giant periodic table.

Leif graduated with a Chemistry degree in 2007. Someone told me the old wooden labs I learned organic chemistry etc had already been ripped out. Sigh; they were from the 60’s and well out of date.

A science student starting university in Fall of 2011 will get to use these clean and modern new labs. They will never have seen the stained and burnt bench tops, the corroded taps, the asbestos lined fume hoods, the decades of smashed and powdered glassware ground in between the old floor tiles. I’m old.

The speeches were riveting but I slipped away and found some of the new labs. We never had robotic air suckers like this for venting fumes in the old labs!
