Kingston based singer/songwriter Greg Ball will release his sophomore album, Mr. Rightplace (Ching Music/Fontana North/Universal Music Canada) on June 18, 2013. Recorded at The Bathhouse in Bath, Ontario, the album features 11 new tracks written by Ball and produced by Ching Music founder, Paul Langlois. Drawing from experiences of love and loss, Mr. Rightplace is a product of Ball’s growing confidence as a songwriter and showcases the tight-knit relationship with his band that includes multi-instrumentalist, Joe Carscallen, drummer Rob Radford and bassist Paul Müller.
“This is a band record,” says Ball. “Four guys with different ideas for 11 songs that all seemed to work. A completely different process from my first record and the way I want to continue recording music.”
“Greg’s voice literally turned my head the first time I heard it,” says Langlois, who signed Ball to Ching Music in 2011 and has been integral to launching his career. “I consider
Mr. Rightplace to be based around that special voice, and his uniquely emotional songwriting.”
Mr. Rightplace is a lean, alt rock album with a hint of country/folk. Lyrically, it circles around life’s triumphs and misunderstandings, resulting in a set of songs that are raw, real and honest; displaying Ball’s talents as a vocalist, songwriter and storyteller.
This summer, Ball will perform select dates in support of Mr. Rightplace, followed by a full Canadian tour this fall
