TLADI: The Lightning Bird

Tladi – Is an evening of dance featuring the dance works of three choreographers: Vincent Mantsoe, Casimiro Nhussi & Paula Blair. And of course the seven drummers, two guitars & two sax of NAfro Band’s grooving style. Don’t miss it!

 Tladi- ‘Lightning Bird’

TLADI, or Lightning bird/s, are believed to be a the symbol of capturing rain, as well as the physical source of regeneration, they are the symbol of spiritual fertitlity and a sign that nature and society are in harmony or NOT.

Rain makers/diviners, will call TLADI to evoke different forces through the events of dances and songs, mimicking TLADI’s distinguishing beauty, strength and fragility.

TLADI, is a word from the NTWANA people of South Africa, originating in Western Sotho’s ‘The Batswana’ clan/tribe.
