DingaDunk and “Get Dinged” August 2 2014

Leif Norman

Islendingadunk is a sport where two combatants sit on a soap-lubricated plastic pole suspended over the water in Gimli Harbour.  The objects is to bat your opponent off the pole (and into the water) using a wet sack filled with sponge.  Too much swing of the “slugger” and you’ll end up in the lake. Too late of a start and you’ll find yourself bobbing in the water in front of hundreds of onlookers.

Join us at 3:00 pm at the Lakeview Hotel and Resort, Wave Patio, to “Get Dinged.”  Dress up in traditional Viking costumes, eat a piece of Hardfiskur (Dried Fish), drink a shot of Reyka Icelandic Vodka, chant “Islendingadagurinn” three times, and show us your best Viking roar!
