Since 1956, the GDC has been an advocate, voice and resource for Canada’s graphic design profession. We are the national certifying body, licensing the CGD certification mark in association with graphic design services, promoting high standards of visual design and ethical business practices for the benefit of Canadian industry, commerce, public service and education. Through the media, publications, seminars, events, conferences and exhibits, the GDC builds awareness of graphic design and its essential role in business and society.
GDC chapters help designers keep on top of changes in the profession, legal, ethical, technological topics, professional issues, current trends, and innovations.
The GDC has more than 1,300 members in 9 chapters across Canada and members at large nationally and internationally. In addition to our professional members, we are also lucky to have several hundred student members. Find out how you can be part of Canada’s foremost graphic design association.
Bob Duncan, User Experience Architect, husband, father and dog owner, currently works for Imaginet Resources Corp. He was born, raised, and resides in small town Manitoba. Throughout his career, Bob has worked with some of the top brands in the province; including MTS, the Winnipeg Free Press, CBC, Milt Stegall, Cindy Klassen, and The Dufresne Group. He recently established the Interaction Design Association of Winnipeg, with hopes of increasing local Interaction Design talent and optimal job performance.
Beth Gillespie makes a point of finding time to live a creative life while keeping her small children occupied. In this presentation, she shows the progression of a painting start to finish and what life really looks like when making art a priority.
Mavis is a Winnipeg business consultant and recreational SCUBA diver who has managed to incorporate worldwide adventures into work contracts. This “ Will work for travel” attitude has taken her to some memorable and sometimes remote places around the world. In her spare time she promotes World Oceans Day celebrations and ocean conservation.
Sheila Molloy is an Entrepreneur, Enthusiasm-Generator and Cheese Lover. A business strategist, she is the owner and principal consultant of Molloy & Associates; a partner of In This Corner (ITC) Boxing Fitness Centre; and a champion of things fun and efficient. A likely poster child for Ritalin had it been invented when she was a disruptive pre-teen, Sheila believes she may be a genius but can’t sit still long enough to find out. Oh look: shoes!
“I am a writer and an artist and the proud Creative Director of Compendium Artist Market in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I write a personal blog at www.vickiannemelo.com which is all about my life and my interests which at the moment are writing, personal development, creating art, and travel.
Compendium Artist Market is a new eco-friendly establishment in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It is a creative space that consists of an art gallery, a photography studio, a craft market, and an organic juice and coffee bar. These four services are used as a platform to develop greater social awareness, increase community involvement, support local artists and crafters and to promote the arts.”
Sarah Zaharia is a business development consultant who specializes in work with Interactive Digital Media. She is a food columnist with the Winnipeg Sun and a lifestyle blogger while hating the term lifestyle.
Passionate about Winnipeg she loves helping locals and visitors discover all the hidden gems our city has to offer. In training to become a Sommelier she is always working on mastering the art of food pairing.
Steve Ward is a local filmmaker who was born in Winnipeg and raised in Selkirk. After escaping the crushing boredom of small town life, Steve began to create music videos for such artists as Scott Nolan and The Farrell Brothers. Steve has also directed two documentaries. His first doc, Happily Dysfunctional”, tells the story of upstart record label, Transistor 66. Steve recently finished his latest doc, “Mai-tais, Toques and Tikis”, which takes viewers on a rum-soaked journey through Winnipeg tiki culture.
