Mom and I head up to Gimli, Manitoba to see how much the lake had melted and to eat some Pickerel fish and chips.

Lake Winnipeg’s ice is still melting. A bit late this year.

When the ice melts in Lake Winnipeg the water is clear. When summer comes the water gets all muddy like the Red River.

  1. Leif, my name is Jeff Badger and I own Kris Fish & Chips. The little boy that was posted on the board along side of the money is my grandson, also named Leif. As most of us Icelanders in Canada, we just have the parts and usually a mix of other nationalities. Our lief is half Japanese and lives on the Ocean south of Tokyo. Hope to have him start working summers in Gimli at the restaurant.
I liked your pictures of the restaurant and the surrounding area.
Thanks for patronizing the place and hope you and your mom had a enjoyable time.

ps. last year I added a patio to the side of the building and modified a shipping container for exterior sitting. The Patio won a Canadian Wood Council Award for its design and is featured in this years review of wood projects throughout north America. Drop in next summer and ask for me.

    jeff
