CommerceDesignWinnipeg is an initiative of StorefrontMB, the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ, and the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce. The CommerceDesignWinnipeg contest will reward Winnipeg merchants for the exceptional quality of the interior and exterior design of their businesses and to highlight the talents of Manitoba designers. Every year it will honor merchants who have called upon qualified Winnipeg architecture and/or interior design professionals to help them design or renovate their business premises.
Winning businesses will benefit from a significant promotional and advertising campaign! This communications operation will have a direct impact on both the winning businesses and the design professionals who worked on them. The partial results of an ongoing study in Montreal, Brussels, and Luxemburg show that according to 100% of winning businesses, the three main benefits of the contest are improved visibility in their neighborhood, an enhanced sense of pride on the part of their employees, and new customers. The designers of the winning businesses also enjoy greater visibility.
A prestigious but very accessible contest, CommerceDesignWinnipeg will generate tremendous spinoff for the contest winners and will be renown for the quality of its picks—it will owe much of its vitality and prestige to the originality and diversity of the projects it promotes. The contest is open to projects carried out anywhere in Winnipeg, and to projects of every kind, budget and approach, by design professionals of every stripe. It is expected to reward many unusual businesses and other original initiatives—in unexpected and out-of-the-way areas, for instance— along with low budget, high impact projects. In addition, it will always recognize new talent in the world of architecture and interior design.
The Commerce Design Competition was conceived by, and is franchised through, the Bureau du design Montreal.
