Humanimal is a remarkable performance that uses theatre, dance, and music to explore what it means to be human. Created and performed by the ten acclaimed Icelandic artists that comprise Me and My Friends Theatre Group, Humanimal premiered in Reykjavík in 2009 to great response from both audiences and critics, and received nine Gríman Award nominations, including Show of the Year. Humanimal is a kaleidoscopic look at human behaviour: our drives, our hungers, our malfunctions, and our excesses. The artists’ playfully dissect the humanimal. How did this strange species evolve? What are its customs? What does it long for and how does it go wild?
